Description
An interest rate is the amount of interest due per period, as a proportion of the amount lent, deposited, or borrowed. The total interest on an amount lent or borrowed depends on the principal sum, the interest rate, the compounding frequency, and the length of time over which it is lent, deposited, or borrowed.
जमा किये गये, उधार दिये गये, या उधार लिये गये किसी धन पर प्रत्येक अवधि (period) में जिस दर से ब्याज लिया/दिया जाता है उसे ब्याज दर कहते हैं। उदाहरण के लिये, ब्याज दर ८ प्रतिशत वार्षिक हो तो इसका अर्थ है कि प्रत्येक १०० रूपये के जमा पर एक वर्ष में ८ रूपये ब्याज दिया जायेगा। किसी जमा किये/उधार लिये धन पर कुल ब्याज इन बातों पर निर्भर करता है- मूलधन, ब्याज की दर, चक्रवर्धन आवृत्ति, कुल अवधि जिसके लिये धन दिया/लिया गया है। आवर्धन अवधि एक वर्ष, आधा वर्ष, चौथाई वर्ष, एक माह आदि होता है।
